Welcome to At Home & Abroad! I’m Laura, a 32-year-old born and raised New Yorker turned Charlottean consumed by wanderlust and a full-on obsession with my Australian Shepherds.

When I’m not hard at work in real estate development, I’m either planning my next adventure or on it. I believe pizza is an essential food group, Taylor Swift songs soothe the soul, and a good murder mystery is the perfect bedtime story. I enjoy entertaining friends and family, cooking, spending time on the water, hiking with my boyfriend and dogs, and exploring the ever-growing Charlotte food and bar scene. I don’t enjoy sitting still, and believe a jam-packed agenda is a happy one. I live by the motto: Life is Short, Book the Trip!

I’m excited to share some of my favorite past itineraries with you and be your source for travel tips, museum and excursion suggestions, and can’t miss bars and restaurants. Thanks in part to my job, I’ve traveled everywhere from Thailand to St. Lucia, the Pacific Northwest to Italy, Canada to Switzerland, London to Costa Rica.

When I’m not traveling, I’ll share my favorite recipes, things to do around Charlotte, my current reading list and podcast selection, and tons of puppy pictures.
