Char-cute-rie Boards!
Updated: Oct 28, 2020
One of my favorite parts of hosting friends or family is building a charcuterie board fit for a centerpiece. I love the creation process, selecting the different meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts, and spreads, but most of all I love a good theme. Making your charcuterie board stand out is easy. Don't be afraid of color, flowers, asymmetrical shapes, and variety of items- it adds a ton of contrast to your board. Oh and lastly (IMHO) the bigger the board, the better!
Here are a few boards I've created this year to help inspire your next party!

This board we created on Mother's Day for my boyfriend's mom. It features silver dollar buttermilk pancakes with dark, white and milk chocolate chips, fresh whipped cream, nutella, butter and syrup, along with sausage, bacon, fresh berries, chocolate covered strawberries, macaron and mini tarts.

For my 4th of July board I went with a red, white & blue theme. The red's are made of fresh watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, gala apples, salami, & pepperoni. The white is an Irish aged cheddar, a havarti dill, mini star garlic crackers, rice crackers, almond flour crackers, and a monterey jack cheese which is cut into little star shapes using my cookie cutters. The blue is made from blueberries, wine soaked cheese, blue corn tortilla chips, blackberries, and dried dates.

This is a pretty standard appetizer in our household when we entertain. We typically rotate what meats and cheeses based on the main dishes we are having that night but as an addition, any kind of fresh fruit, nuts, crackers or bread, dried or cured meats and cheeses will do! It's always a good idea to add cheeses that are from different animals, have different hardness levels, or have different flavors mixed in. Make it your own and have fun!
If you're ready to give it a try and want to get a similar board here is a link to the one I have in the photos above. For those of you who are more of a "do it for me type, I highly recommend the Charlotte company, Babe & Butcher. They do absolutely stunning boards for parties of all sizes and constantly inspire me to up my game!
